Meet Sol, a radiant soul 😏 and a beacon of strength in Adulting IRL, turning her battles into blessings and pain into purpose. Sol’s journey is a living testimony of resilience, self-love, and the transformative power of the human spirit. 

 

From her early years, life handed Sol lessons bathed in struggle. Having spent her childhood overshadowed by abusive, narcissistic, and emotionally unavailable caregivers, Sol believed she deserved to die. At 13 years old, feeling isolated and alone, Sol internalized her pain by self-harming, and at ages 16 and 18, she attempted to take her life. Sol, being self-sufficient, consulted with Tio Google for answers.

 

Sol took her healing into her own hands and began to explore the healing properties of traditional indigenous plant-based medicine and psychedelics. Sol realized she deserved to feel happy and allow her Warrior Spirit to blossom. Her 7-month backpacking journey through Mexico, Ecuador, and Columbia was pivotal in her self-discovery. Sol finally had a safe place to explore her heritage, culture, and traditional indigenous healing ceremonies. Her plant medicine experience was profound; Sol, for the first time, had the privilege to experience feeling safe within a community.

Sol returned home with a renewed sense of self and purpose for the first time. She moved out independently and found a job working with youth, providing Peer Support and “being the person she needed when she was younger.” 

At 28, Sol is now honored to be a facilitator and consultant at Adulting IRL, where she can “be who she needed” and focus on suicide prevention and intervention work. Sol does not regret how her journey has unfolded and will continue sharing her story to spread awareness. Sol lives in Portland, Oregon, with her two emotional support felines, Onyx & Buddha, and keeping the city WEIRD! 💪🏽🏳️‍🌈✊🏽#IRLHeroes
